SUMMARY:Jam It for Jaxson
DESCRIPTION:Join the Tulsa Oilers as they take on the Thunder and help support Bixby Second grader Jaxson Kidd as he battles a cancerous brain tumor.\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, Feb. 9 2013 the doctor informed the Kidd family that Jaxson had a brain tumor and their lives were forever changed. Jaxson immediately had a shunt placed in his brain to relieve pressure and save hi life. This surgery was followed by another very lengthy surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. The biopsy came back with a diagnosis of Medulloblastoma\, a cancerous brain tumor. The Kidd family the headed to Oklahoma City after recovering from his surgeries to receive seven weeks of proton radiation. Once the radiation was completed\, the Kidd family returned to Tulsa and Jaxson began 55 weeks of chemotherapy. Jaxson had numerous hospital stays\, fevers and infections. Due ot this\, Jaxson completed most of his first grade school work homebound. He has now started second grade at Bixby North Elementary and is able to attend class more often. He continues to fight headaches and is dealing with numerous side effects from the treatment he has received over the past 62 weeks. He has regular appointments with the psychologist\, physical therapist\, oncologist\, neurosurgeon\, endocrinologist and a hearing doctor. He also has follow-up MRI's of his brain and spine to watch for tumor re-growth. Jaxson's journey is far from over\, but he is strong and a fighter!
